Extreme Abilities Community Works

Extreme Abilities is divided in to two parts, Adapted Tours and Community Works. South Africa is a country with many differences and a rich history. Many of South Africa’s people comes from difficult backgrounds. In many areas we help one another to over come our strives and challenges and one of the ways that Extreme Abilities Community Works helps the people of SA is to create a platform for less fortunate and disabled people to experience alternative sports. We are proud to have pioneered Adapted Surfing in South Africa and we try to introduce it to as many disabled people as possible. Extreme Abilities Community Works is a registered non-profit company that organizes sporting events for less privileged people living with disabilities. We rely on funding, sponsorship and volunteer work to operate our community events. If you feel that you can contribute to our work with the disabled community of South Africa, please feel free to contact us at any time. We appreciate any form of help!      Contact us here

To create a new opportunity for the disabled community to be a part of mainstream society and to get an opportunity to overcome new challenges, we have introduced surfing to the disabled community of South Africa. Surfing is something to be enjoyed. It is something that can be developed into a skill. It is something that can give a person courage and strength of mind. Surfing is exactly what a disabled person needs to be a capable person.

Raising awareness on Disability is one of Extreme Abilities passionate missions. In order to better the lives of people living with disabilities, our communities need to be aware of the needs and social aspect of disabled people.

In order to raise this issue, we roll in our chairs showing off our (muscles) perseverance and determination.

Making a Difference

We aim at raising awareness as well as having a platform where parents and care givers can share insights and knowledge. Intervention is very necessary but expensive in South Africa so we have free surf days where we can get young and old in the water and on the beach for some exercise and games to  provide stimulation and motor skills. People from  all different walks of life can join us for a fun day at the beach and establish new friendships at the same time.

Surfing for Special Needs

21 March Human Rights Day 2013, Extreme Abilities co-hosted a fun filled day on the beach for 850 children from the Saldanha community. Each of the children had the opportunity to learn how to Kayak and how to Skimboard. They also received a nice meal for the day.

The aim of this event was to protest against domestic violence towards woman and children. The theme ‘Breaking the Silence” urged the children to speak up and point out those who inflict violence upon the defenceless.
